Syngenta focuses greater resources on turf industry

In order to deliver enhanced value to its customers and provide greater resources to the turf industry, Syngenta has restructured the internal organisation of its turf business.

Syngenta has established a new Professional Products Business Unit within Australasia. The Business Unit is comprised of three portfolios: Home Care; Seed Care; and Lawn & Garden.

Mr Eric Brown has been appointed the Professional Products Business Manager who will oversee the strategic direction of the business unit. Eric brings a wealth of experience and a customer focus to the company, with his previous role having been Marketing Director for Bayer’s Consumer Care Business.

“This new internal structure will ensure complete customer commitment through enabling Syngenta to be fully focused and aligned to each market,” Mr Brown said.

“The turf market demands specific and tailored offerings and we have appointed a dedicated team of specialists to cater to these.”

Mr Sam Hole will continue managing the Syngenta turf business as Business Unit Manager for the Lawn & Garden range.

“This portfolio is comprised of some of the most reputable products in the market, namely: BANNER MAXX, DACONIL WEATHER STIK, HERITAGE MAXX, MERIDIAN, MONUMENT, PRIMO MAXX and SUBDUE MAXX,” Mr Brown said.

“In his 18 months with Syngenta, Mr Hole has implemented numerous positive changes to the business and heightened Syngenta’s commercial offering.”

Mr Brown said the recent appointment of Dr Henk Smith to the role of Technical Manager for Lawn & Garden reinforces Syngenta’s commitment to bringing innovative technology to the market.

“Dr Smith’s appointment has strengthened our link between development and the market, enhancing Syngenta’s scientific information transfer to the industry,” Mr Brown said.

“Dr Smith joins us from Syngenta South Africa where he managed the Professional Products Business Unit.”

Syngenta turf sales roles have also been created to provide a greater customer focus.

“Mr Patrick Madden has been appointed NSW Sales Manager – Turf and will commence his new role based in Sydney, in February,” Mr Brown announced.

“Mr Madden previously held the position of Syngenta Sales Specialist Summer Crops, in which he worked with both the NSW sales team and customers to implement effective commercial programs.”

Mr Brown also announced that Mr Lester Snooke has filled the position of WA Sales Manager, based in Perth.

”Mr Snooke has been involved in agricultural research and development and most recently worked with Nuturf in WA as a Sales Manager,” Mr Brown said.

“He brings a great deal of industry knowledge and turf technical experience to the role.”

Recruitment is underway for the role of Queensland Sales Manager with the position to be filled early this year.

Mr Brown said this dedicated turf team will enable Syngenta to bring novel approaches to the market.

“This new structure will assist us in delivering market driven solutions, specialist excellence and trusted brands to ensure enhanced value for our customers.

“This is an exciting time for the Syngenta Turf Business as the changes provide us with the ability to respond to the market's needs in a more effective way,” Mr Brown stated.

“This renewed focus on our turf portfolio, only enhances Syngenta’s status as the leader in innovation, knowledge and technical support for the turf industry.”
