Agency distribution proves advantageous to turf industry
Media Release, 8 June 2007
It is 11 months since the introduction of Syngenta’s agency distribution model to the Australian turf market and the response from distributors and turf managers has been extremely positive.
Business Unit Manager Lawn & Garden, Mr. Sam Hole, said Syngenta introduced the model in order to raise its level of service, professionalism, technical training and support across all parts of the turf industry.
“Syngenta had grown substantially in recent years, in part from a successful development relationship with Nuturf. With numerous innovative products and services in the pipeline, it required additional distribution partners to meet the growing demand for its products,” he explained.
“Increasing our distribution channels has enabled us to accelerate our research and development plans and to provide a more intimate level of technical support to both our customers and nominated Syngenta agents.
“The dedication and expertise of our agents has been imperative to the model delivering a wealth of benefits to the industry.”
Mr. Hole said that due to the success of the new model Syngenta is implementing two additional expansions at the end of this month.
“In response to the increasing demand for new turf specific solutions, management tools, training and technical services, we have appointed a new retail agent, Living Turf, based in NSW,” he said.
“Living Turf’s service level and technical support have a strong fit in the agency model. Furthermore, Living Turf takes the Syngenta offering to sectors of the market that have previously missed out.
“In addition we have introduced a wholesale arrangement through our existing agents, Nuturf, Globe, Maxwell & Kemp and Simplot Proline. This enables other turf product distributors to support and service the Syngenta range, heightening our contribution to this progressive market. These changes will ensure Syngenta’s long term commitment to this industry remain strong.”
Despite recent challenges to turf managers, including water availability and budgetary concerns, Syngenta believes the future is bright for the Australian turf industry.
“We will continue to deliver tailored solutions, specialist excellence and trusted brands to ensure enhanced value for our customers,” Mr. Hole said.
