Overview

BANNER MAXX is an effective xylem systemic fungicide, that delivers superior protection for up to 28 days against dollar spot and spring dead spot.

Propiconazole is rapidly absorbed by the leaves and crowns of the plant, mostly within one hour of treatment.  Absorbtion through roots, after application to the root zone, normally happens over time and is facilitated by soil moisture.  It is transported acropetally (upwards) in the xylem.  This systemic translocation contributes to even distribution of the active ingredient within the plant tissue.

Propiconazole is a member of the DMI-fungicides group (demethylation inhibitors), and acts on the fungal pathogen inside the plant at the stage of first haustoria formation and stop disease development by interfering with sterol biosynthesis in fungal cell membranes.

Propiconazole has excellent protective and early curative activity, although best results will be achieved when BANNER MAXX is applied when the disease is still in the early stages of development.  Early curative dictates that application begins when conditions are favourable for disease infection and at the very beginning of disease symptom expression.

Chemical/Formulation

APVMA Code : 54360/5/0504

BANNER MAXX is microemulsion concentrate formulation containing 155g/L propiconazole (triazole).

Syngenta specifically designed the MAXX formulations for use in sentisitive turf plants. As a result most of the management concerns for superintendents and turf managers have beed addressed.

Benefits:

  • no odour
  • no petroleum solvent - increased turf safety
  • easily forms a solution and stays suspended
  • won't crystalise and clog nozzles
  • easily tank mixed
  • less equipment wear

How to Use?

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BUYING OR USING THIS PRODUCT!

DISEASES CONTROLLED

  • Dollar Spot  (Sclerotinia homeocarpa)
  • Spring Dead Spot (Leptosphaeria spp)

For optimum turf quality and disease control, use BANNER MAXX in conjunction with turf management practices that promote good plant health.

Correct identification of the disease(s) is essential in selecting the most appropriate control measures.

Dollar Spot
Spray when conditions are warm and humid, normally from September to March. Make a second application 14 to 28 days later if conditions continue to favour disease development. Use rates towards the lower end of the range as a preventative programme and against light to moderate infection. Use rates towards the higher end of the range and shorter intervals as a preventative or curative treatment when conditions are highly favourable for the disease. Read more about Dollar Spot in the disease discription section.

Spring Dead Spot
Apply as a high volume spray and water in as soon as possible, ensuring even penetration into the root zone. Spray in January to March, after renovation and recovery of active growth. Make a second application one month later. Do not renovate treated greens until active growth has recommenced in Spring. Do not spray in the Spring / Summer period prior to renovation as fungicide applications at this time will have very little to no effect on the disease symptoms.  Read more about Spring Dead Spot in the disease discription section.

The best results can be obtained when applying BANNER MAXX in a targeted preventative spray programme.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Resistance management
In order to minimise the likelihood of the development of resistance, it is recommended that BANNER MAXX should be used in a programme with products of different chemical groups.

Use BANNER MAXX in a disease control programme, alternating treatments with  other fungicides having different modes of action e.g. DACONIL WEATHER STIK and iprodione-based products.

Apply BANNER MAXX at full recommended rates.  Utilise management practices, which encourage healthy turf and reduce turf stress.

Tankmixes

Mixing
Add the required amount of product directly to the spray tank and mix well.

Compatibility
BANNER MAXX is compatible with DACONIL WEATHER STIK, HERITAGE MAXX, PRIMO MAXX and iprodione.

Tank Mixing Benefits
Tank mixing BANNER MAXX with DACONIL WEATHER STIK for early curative Dollar Spot control will improve the efficacy by acting on two fronts.  DACONIL WEATHER STIK acts as a contact shield on the outside of leaves, preventing new infections.  BANNER MAXX will act as a "clean-out" systemic on the inside of leaves to control any existing infections already estaliched within the leaf tissue.  This combination effect is synergistic and will enhance control.  The longevity of fungicides are generally extended when used in conjunction with a growth regulation programme of PRIMO MAXX.

Storage and disposal
Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well ventilated area. DO NOT store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. DO NOT dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty containers and product should not be burnt.

Syngenta supports recycling through drumMuster.
