Overview

PRIMO MAXX is an efficient and versatile turf management tool that maximizes turf quality, pre-conditions for stress prevention, and optimises resources.

PRIMO MAXX improves turf stand, uniformity and health to provide a smooth, tightly knit cover that is better able to withstand stress. PRIMO MAXX achieves this by increasing the lateral spread and turf density, in addition to slowing the vertical growth of the grass. This enhances the playability of many surfaces including fairways, greens and tees on golf courses as well as sport fields and other playing surfaces.

Trinexapac-ethyl is rapidly absorbed by the leaves and crowns of the plant, mostly within one hour of treatment.  Absorbtion through roots are negliable.  It is transported acropetally (upwards) in the xylem to the meristem, where cell elongation occurs.  This systemic translocation contributes to even distribution of the active ingredient within the plant tissue.

Trinexapac-ethyl inhibits gibberellic acid biosynthesis, resulting in decreased cellular elongation and internode length. After application, any new growth has shortened internodes, more tillers, and reduced vertical growth compared to untreated turf.

Chemical/Formulation

APVMA Code : 54275

PRIMO MAXX is micro emulsion formulation containing 120g/L trinexapac-ethyl (cyclohexanedione).

Syngenta specifically designed the MAXX formulations for use in sentisitive turf plants. As a result of the management concerns for superintendents and turf managers have beed addressed.

Benefits:

  • no odour
  • no petroleum solvent
  • easily forms a solution and stays suspended
  • won't crystalise and clog nozzles
  • easily tank mixed
  • less equipment wear

Turfgrasses

  • Common couch
  • Couch varieties (Greenlees Park, Wintergreen, Santa Anna)
  • Hybrid couch
  • Kikuyu
  • Carpetgrass
  • Buffalograss
  • Bentgrass
  • Fescue
  • Perennial Ryegrass
  • Bentgrass

For optimum turf quality, use PRIMO MAXX in conjunction with turf management practices that promote good plant health.

The recommended use rates are designed to give approximately a 50% reduction in clippings over a 4 to 6 week period. In practise the amount of growth regulation achieved will vary between situations due to environmental conditions and management practices. To some extent therefore application rates will need to be adjusted to match growing conditions, management practices and the amount of growth regulation required. Repeat applications can be made as soon as turf resumes growth or more suppression is required. PRIMO MAXX should be applied to actively growing turf, at least 6 hours before or after mowing. Good mowing management leading up to application is required to achieve a good quality turf surface and to obtain the best results.

Tankmixes

Mixing

Add the required amount of product directly to the spray tank and mix well

Compatibility

For Common Couch, Hybrid Couch and Kikuyu turfgrasses only

PRIMO MAXX is compatible with some formulations of products containing the following chemicals: MCPA/bromoxynil/dicamba, bromoxynil, MCPA ester/bromoxynil/dicamba, MCPA ester/bromoxynil, MCPP/2,4-D amine/dicamba, 2,4-D amine or MCPP/dicamba.

However, some transient discolouration of the treated turf may occur after application of a tank mix. For the treatment of broadleaf weeds in turf with herbicides other than those indicated above, it is recommended to apply PRIMO MAXX and the broadleaf weed herbicides separately, allowing at least 10 days between an application of PRIMO MAXX and the broadleaf weed herbicides.

Tankmixing benefits

The longevity of fungicides are generally extended when used in conjunction with a growth regulation programme of PRIMO MAXX.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL

Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well ventilated area, out of direct sunlight.Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal.  Add rinsings to the spray tank.  DO NOT dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill.  If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots.  Empty containers and product should not be burnt.

Syngenta supports recycling through drumMuster.
